Texas has always been the forefront of American resilience of individual or human rights. Texans are proud to defend their rights even if it means war. This is because Texans are inherently more conscientious and vigorous in defending themselves, not just because they are Texans, but because they feel very deeply as free Americans. Texans like to think of themselves as unique—which I believe they are.
